How HomeShare MHA Works

If you are single and homeless in Monmouthshire, the sad reality is that you will have to wait more than 15 months for a 1 bedroom home of your own. However, our HomeShare scheme offers 2 single applicants the opportunity to become flat-mates with a joint housing contract.

HomeShare MHA identifies generously-sized 2 bedroom apartments to advertise on Monmouthshire Homesearch, with priority to applicants registered as sharers.

It is available to eligible single people, at least one of whom has a homelessness duty from Monmouthshire County Council.

HomeShare MHA is:

  • Faster: You will get priority on exclusive HomeShare adverts and move into your own home more quickly.
  • Cheaper: You will share the rent & bills with your flat-mate & save on other household expenses.
  • Better: You can support each other with living independently and managing your home.

Your New Home Will:

  • Have 2 double bedrooms (one each!).
  • Benefit from a lounge/diner, kitchen and bathroom.
  • Come freshly decorated, with flooring throughout.
  • Be located in Abergavenny or Caldicot towns with their great transport links and amenities.

I'm Interested - How Can I Apply?

Contact Monmouthshire Homesearch to add your sharer to your current housing application. If you are both registered already the application with the longest homeless priority date will be used.

You will both be registered as HomeShare applicants and you can both access your account and bid on adverts.

If you change your mind about joining HomeShare whilst you are still on the waiting list, you will both revert back to your original banding and registration dates.

Your Shared Housing Offer

When shortlisted, you will both sign the same Secure Contract and become co-tenants of your own home!

Call the lovely Monmouthshire Homesearch team on 0345 900 2956 or email homesearch@monmouthshirehousing.co.uk to register today.
