We are pleased to award Friends of Chepstow Library (FOCL) £500 towards the supply of daily newspapers for the community.
Chepstow library, situated in the heart of Chepstow, is supported by a volunteer led group FOCL.
The group are committed to promoting events and services taking place at the local library and identified a gap for newspapers that are readily available to the community. FOCL have secured ‘MHA Community Benefit’ funding to supply the library with local newspapers, free of charge, throughout 2024. The newspapers are available for anyone in the community to enjoy, not only members of the library.
Rob Carey, Senior Engagement Officer said:
MHA is delighted to support the Friends of Chepstow Library by sponsoring the library’s daily newspapers for 2024. We recognise that not everybody has access to digital technology, especially with the rising cost-of-living putting pressure on people’s finances, so we are delighted to supplement free access to local news and job advertisements for everyone in the community.
The initiative champions a sense of community and accessibility, the newspapers will serve as a central point for community members to; gather, read and potentially engage in mutual conversation and topics. Fostering a sense of unity, helping locals remain up-to-date and connected with their community.
