We have appointed a specialist contractor to undertake energy efficiency works and improvements to its block of apartments at Newland Way.
A combination of retrofit and improvement works are due to start this month to deliver warmer, greener and more energy efficient homes for the residents.
Scott Beynon, MHA Building Surveyor said:
We are delighted to have appointed two contactors to undertake a raft of improvement works to both drive decarbonisation and improve the living environment for our residents at Newland Way.
The significant works will help tenants reduce the amount of energy they use; making substantial savings on their energy bills and cutting down carbon emissions, which is great for our residents and the environment.
A big thank you to Welsh Government for the optimised retrofit funding, which is enabling the energy efficiency works to happen.
The energy efficiency works to the 14 apartments will be undertaken by Sers Ltd, a market leader in the installation of external wall insulation for high and low rise properties, having installed solid wall insulation to over 35,000 homes across the UK.
Robert Martin, Managing Director, Sers Ltd said:
We are delighted to have been appointed on this project, following our previous work with Monmouthshire Housing Association. We’ve worked closely with all parties to develop the project and believe residents will see a significant benefit in the comfort of their properties and energy performance improvements following the completion of works.
The optimised retrofit funding from Welsh Government is delivering tangible benefits for residents across the country and we’re proud to be working on the homes at Newland Way to deliver a full range of property improvements.
DT Construction are a valued construction partner of MHA and have been appointed to undertake the remaining structural works to the properties.
The properties will undergo a significant upgrade including the installation of solar panels, external wall insulation, new double glazing, replacement of external doors, increased loft insulation, improved ventilation, and re-roofing.
MHA completed its first retrofit development at Cwrt Severn, Caldicot in September.
The residents of Newland Way have been temporarily decanted to enable the major works to be undertaken safely, with the works scheduled to complete by spring 2025.
