We're here to help you feel at home!
As a new tenant you will be supported from the moment you receive your offer / pre-tenancy appointment, by our friendly New Homes Team.
The New Homes Team are responsible for making sure everything is in place, to ensure your move can happen. For example, they will discuss your household needs, explain the type of Occupation Contract you will have and clarify the details of your new property before you move in.
Your New Homes Officer will continue to support you through the first year of your new contract, whether you are on a Secure contract or an Introductory Standard Contract.
The New Homes team offer a one-stop-shop for MHA tenants who have recently signed a new Occupation Contract; providing an enhanced housing and income management service, to help you settle in and give you the best start in your new home.
The New Homes team can also provide the following assistance & support to you if needed:
-
Managing your rent account.
-
Understanding your Occupation Contract (used to be called a Tenancy Agreement).
-
Refer you to specialist services, such as financial advice.
In a nutshell, we are here to help ensure you are happy in your new home and starting your MHA journey.
Your New Tenant Visit
All new tenants will have a ‘new tenant visit’ about 4-6 weeks after moving in, where MHA will review your situation to check everything is going well, and you are managing in your new home, or if you need some additional support.
Your First Year of Contract
Your New Homes Officer will keep in touch with you during your first 12 months, and will arrange to call or visit you according to your needs. The officer is available during this period to be contacted directly to discuss your contract and any concerns that you have.
If you live in one of our Sheltered Schemes your new tenant visits will be completed by one of our Community Living Officers.
You should report your repairs during this period to the Customer Service Team or by using the MHA tenant app
Your 9-Month Visit
Following this final New Homes service visit, you will usually leave New Homes, and be allocated a Neighbourhood Officer, who will then oversee your Secure contract with MHA. An Income Officer will also always be on hand to help you with any rent and benefits issues you may have.
Extending Your Introductory Standard Contracts
If MHA decides to extend your Introductory Standard contract, you will remain with the New Homes Team for a further 6 months.
