Overview

A significant regeneration programme involving the renovation of six blocks of flats and the demolition of a further 3 blocks to create 37 new affordable homes for rent, bringing much needed affordable housing to Caldicot.

The new homes comprised of 21 x 2 bed houses, 5 x 3 bed houses, 8 x 1 bed apartments and 3 x 2 bed bungalows. The renovation programme included the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms, electrical, gas and heating works.

The external works included re-roofing, new windows, balcony rails, main entrance canopies and external wall insulation.

As well as providing new homes, the development significantly improved an area that was built in the 1960’s, previously behest with anti-social behaviour problems.

Community Benefits

Enhanced safety measures when accessing local school Ysgol Gwmraeg Ffin was one of the community benefits delivered as part of the building contract.

A new secure mental fence and gate were jointly funded and erected by MHA and Monmouthshire County Council (MCC). The new safety measures have now eradicated the ‘blind spot’, enabling school children to clearly see any vehicles turning into the school yard, and safely use the school zebra crossing.
