Our Executive Directors
Our Executive Team really know their stuff and are an approachable bunch! They have overall responsibility for the day to day running of MHA, ensuring we keep on track and continue to drive our business forward.
John Keegan – Chief Executive
John has been CEO since MHA were established in January 2008 and has overseen MHA’s transformation as a landlord and business and anticipates in the next 10 years we will transform again. John believes in the importance of not losing sight of why we were set up and our mission of providing high-quality homes and services that put people first, serves to guide us as a business.
John feels passionate about wanting every tenant to feel they are living in a home and community we care for every bit as much as they do.
Gwyndaf Tobias – Director of Resources & Deputy Chief Executive
Gwyndaf joined MHA in July 2020 as Director of Resources, having previously worked within the Higher Education, Health, Housing and Local Government sectors over the last 30 years. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA).
He is extremely passionate about housing and enjoys working for such an innovative and progressive housing association, whose values are rooted in enabling communities to realise their ambitions through transformational change, putting tenants and staff at the heart of its vision and objectives.
Michele Morgan – Director of Housing & Communities
Michele was appointed as Director of Housing & Communities in November 2018, having previously worked for MHA since stock transfer. Michele is a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing from Cardiff University.
Michele enjoys being a part of MHA’s journey to improve the housing stock and build new affordable homes for local people. As Director, she is responsible for ensuring we deliver high-quality homes and services to our tenants and this is something that she is incredibly passionate about.
Becky Oliver – Assistant Director of Property Services (Assets)
Becky has worked at MHA since transfer in January 2008 as Deputy Head of Building Services, Head of Building Services and now Assistant Director of Property (Assets). She has achieved a Masters in Business Administration and an MSc in Building Surveying.
Becky has lived in Monmouth all her life; her first home was purchased within an MHA housing estate and she enjoyed living here for 15 years. She is passionate about providing high quality services and safe homes and keen to ensure safe communities for tenants and residents living within MHA’s estates. Becky lives with her husband and her two young daughters. She is Chair of Monmouth Netball Club and volunteers and coaches the Junior Netball teams.
In her role at MHA as Assistant Director, Becky is keen to focus on many areas including the new Welsh Housing Quality Standard, continuing to deliver an excellent repairs and maintenance service and striving to ensure safety and compliance in all service areas.
Chris Kinsey – Assistant Director of Property Services (Development)
Chris joined MHA in March 2017 having previously worked in social housing since 2011. He has a BA(Hons) in Property Development and M/Plan Master of Planning. Chris lives with his wife and five children, and comes from a large family being the eldest of five. Having seen and felt the unaffordable pressures of housing, Chris is enthusiastic about providing more choice in affordable options.
He is passionate about influencing positive environmental and sustainable behaviours and embedding these principles through the ways we work.
Chris is also acting Managing Director for Capsel Homes, our wholly owned private subsidiary who build both affordable homes for MHA and homes for sale. Capsel’s surplus is reinvested in our affordable development programme.
In his spare time, Chris has coached mini and junior rugby for 9 years and since hanging up his own boots, has taken to playing squash and taking long walks with the family.
Our Board
Our board members come from all walks of life, not just from the social housing sector. This helps us to see the bigger picture and look at things from a different point of view.
They set our corporate strategy, and make sure we are complying with all our legal and regulatory obligations and working to the highest standards of governance, accountability, and integrity. They challenge us to be the best that we can be.
Tony Deakin – Chair
With over 25 years’ experience working in social housing, Tony has held several Executive and Non-Executive roles in both Wales and England. These have included roles with both stock transfer and traditional Registered Social Landlords as well as local authority housing departments.
Tony is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and is a member of the Institute’s Housing Panel.
Dimitri Batrouni – Vice Chair
Councillor Dimitri Batrouni currently serves as a Leader of Newport Council and is the Cabinet member for Organisational Transformation. He has a BSc in Computer Science, a Masters in International Relations and a PhD in Political Science.
He has worked in both the UK and Welsh Parliaments and previously lectured politics at the University of Bristol. He is now a Senior Analyst for the Independent Monitoring Authority (IMA) attached to the Ministry of Justice set up to monitor Brexit and citizens’ rights. He grew up in Monmouthshire and is a passionate supporter of providing services and support to the people of Monmouthshire.
Colin Lewis
Colin has a Joint Honours Degree in Chemistry and Biology, and a Masters in Chemistry. He is a Member of the Association of Project Management. Colin was Head of Business Change at Principality Building Society for 8 years and left to set up the not-for-profit Tirion Group. Tirion Group was created to deliver affordable homes, supported by the Welsh Government and Principality Building Society utilising a novel funding model.
Colin lives in Monmouth and is an active member of Monmouth Rowing Club, regularly taking part in races both in the U.K. and further afield.
Reg Kilpatrick
Reg began his career with British Airways as an aircraft engineer before studying for a degree in Behavioural Sciences. Reg spent several years managing the NHS budget and health authority allocations before moving to culture, Welsh language and sport policy, sponsoring the National Museum of Wales and securing political and financial approval from the National Assembly to the Wales Millennium Centre. He also moved into Local Government Policy Division where he led policy on local authorities.
In May 2011, he became Director of Local Government and Public Services where he was responsible for the local government funding regime and allocations; corporate support and improvement for councils; and the Government’s general reform programme.
John Miller
John worked overseas for approximately 20 years. During this time holding several senior executive positions including CEO of PET–ICT, one of Malaysia’s largest ICT companies. John was also the Group CIO for Petronas, Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company which at the time was a Fortune 100 company.
John has an extensive ICT career spanning multiple industries including pharmaceutical, education, software development, consulting engineering and oil & gas. He is a strategist and has been described as a transformational leader, understanding the requirements for successful execution.
Cael Sendell-Price
Cael studied Law at Aberystwyth University followed by a Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School. In addition, Cael has completed an MSc in International Criminal Justice. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply and in 2020 won their Excellence Award for Young talent.
Cael worked across local government for several years running complex multimillion pound procurement exercises across a range of categories. He was Head of Strategic Procurement, for one of the largest Councils in the UK. He now works as a management consultant advising high profile public and private clients on procurement and supply chain transformation programmes. He also volunteers as a Magistrate dealing with criminal cases.
Nicola Tindale
Nicola is a very experienced property professional having jointly set up, and been an executive director of, a property development company for over 27 years. Her particular experience is of residential development, seeking to create architecturally excellent homes and quality environments. She is passionate about building environments that create community and homes that can foster lives.
Nicola is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. She has three adult children and so knows only too well the struggle to afford rents and the clear need for affordable homes.
Lynda Campbell
Lynda has a 20 year + career in senior leadership where she led a team of 3500 people across multiple sites for a major utility organisation in the UK. In the last 7 years she has worked with a variety of organisations in many sectors including airlines, hospitality, engineering and major corporate organisations; supporting them with their people and cultural strategy and service experience, which included 2 years with one of the largest Housing Associations in England.
She is fascinated by all things people and culture and has a Masters in Business and Organisational Psychology. She has also led cultural transformations and many change management projects within businesses. She is married, with children and grandchildren and enjoys golfing when she gets the time.
Tim Jackson
Tim is a qualified accountant and has worked as an Executive Director for social housing organisations across England and Wales, mainly in finance and resource roles, and more recently in service transformation.
Tim has also held a number of non-Executive roles in the social housing, health and charity sectors. He is passionate about social housing and its ability to transform the lives of individuals and communities. Tim is looking forward to working with MHA to help support its aim to provide great homes and places in South Wales.
In his personal time he travels, cycles and coaches hockey.
Kalwant Grewal – Independent Audit Committee member
Kalwant has extensive experience across healthcare, social housing, and not-for-profit sectors, with strong expertise in governance, strategic leadership, and financial management.
Throughout his career, he has held numerous senior roles, including Non-Executive Director, Committee Chair, and Executive-level positions.
Kalwant has overseen substantial operations, managed large-scale projects, and navigated complex financial and regulatory landscapes. He has guided organisations through strategic planning, risk management, and governance excellence, always with a focus on delivering tangible social value and fostering vibrant, inclusive communities.
