Tenancy and Estate Management
MHA has a team of Neighbourhood and Income Officers who help our tenants manage their tenancies and a Maintenance Team who ensure your home remains in good condition.
The team are here to help you with your rent account, general queries relating to your tenancy, concerns related to anti-social behaviour and physical improvements to your community and neighbourhood.
What will my Neighbourhood Officer do?
Your Neighbourhood Officer will assist you with:
Sign up: Once a property has been allocated to you, your Neighbourhood Officer will show you around your new home and go through your tenancy agreement and your rights and responsibilities. They will also give you advice and support throughout your tenancy with MHA.
Rent: Your Income Officer can help you to manage your rent account. If you experience any problems paying your rent or find yourself falling into rent arrears please contact your Income Officer immediately. They can offer support in managing your money, assisting with Housing Benefit queries or refer you to our MoneyWise team for further help.
Anti-Social Behaviour: Tackling anti-social behaviour is a key priority to promote safe and secure communities within MHA’s communities. Our Neighbourhood Officers are your first point of contact for problems with anti-social behaviour, nuisance or breaches of tenancy. For higher level anti-social behaviour we work closely with our in house specialist Community Safety Team and other partner agencies.
Your Environment: Our Neighbourhood Officers work hard to ensure that the area you live in is pleasant, attractive and safe. This includes dealing with issues that affect your local environment, including abandoned cars and dumped rubbish to large scale physical improvements.
Helping you manage your tenancy: Our Neighbourhood Officers carry out home and garden inspections to ensure tenancies are maintained, give advice on neighbourhood services, deal with tenancy issues and help tenants maintain positive tenancies.
Community events: Our Neighbourhood Officers build relationships in their areas and work closely with our Community Investment team to deliver events and activities, as well as consulting with you on changes and gaining your feedback through periodic walkabouts.
Welfare Reform: Our Neighbourhood Officers help our tenants affected by the Welfare Reform changes, providing advice and support and referring tenants to our MoneyWise service where appropriate.
