MHA operates the Welsh Assembly Government's Homebuy scheme.
This means new homes we build or purchase from developers can be sold on a much more affordable basis by MHA.
The scheme is available to existing tenants of MHA, who may be able to purchase the home they are currently living in. It is also available to someone who has no previous relationship with MHA, helping people to purchase a newly built home if they are struggling to get on the property ladder.
All applicants have to be assessed based on affordability and other eligibility criteria to qualify.
How does it work?
An eligible buyer would be required to fund 50 to 70% of the full purchase price of a property through a mortgage. The remaining amount would then be paid by MHA as a loan. The loan only has to be paid back when the property is sold. You would not have to pay any interest on the loan or pay any rent to MHA either.
New build properties are in high demand and Homebuy opportunities are usually snapped up very quickly.
